"We must realize the truth of ourselves. . .We are one human family. One part of the other. My old workhorse Teddy and the fancy registered horse visiting us had no trouble eating out of the same dish. We must discover the same." -Lucy Poulin

HOME has built 54 homes for low-income families since the 1970’s. HOME supports low-income families to own their homes. The process can be long and hard for families however we are always optimistic that walls can be broken down and pathways can be created. HOME recognizes that for the program to make the biggest impact, each party must make a concerted effort to reach their goals. Families feel the most connected and take the most responsibility when they take an active part in purchasing and sometimes renovating or building the house they hope to call home. Our housing department incorporates these aspects into the program through connecting prospective families with first time homebuyer courses and planning ahead for future builds with families in mind before construction begins.
Currently, HOME has two houses for sale in our Sedgwick Community. If you are interested in owning a home and find that income prevents this dream from coming true, please download our housing application and return it to HOME. Applicants must meet income guidelines for %80 of the median area income of Hancock County as defined by HUD. https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/il/il2018/2018summary.odn
