Our Mission
In the beginning, Arts and Craft studios at H.O.M.E. were developed as a means for low-income families to augment their income. Community members produced items in the studios or at their homes to sell on consignment in H.O.M.E.’s Craft Store. From bird houses to potholders, there is something for everybody. The H.O.M.E. Made Gift Shop is open Friday through Monday 10 am – 5 pm except for the months of January, February and March when they are closed.
How it works...
Crafters are assigned a crafter number to help us keep track of items sold. Crafters determine their own pricing for their products. We ask when pricing products to keep in mind that our consignment sales are: 70% of monies go to the crafter and 30% of monies go to H.O.M.E. This helps keep the lights and heat on in the Craft Store. Crafter’s are cut a check monthly once they accumulate at least $10 in sales.
Guests of our shelters who create items to be sold in our craft store receive 100% from the sales of their products.
More ways to earn...
Items in our Craft Store have the opportunity for more exposure to sales as H.O.M.E. staff bring a variety of items to sell at local and out-of-state craft fairs mostly during the Christmas holiday season.
H.O.M.E. provides multiple opportunities for sales...
Store Sales
The Craft Store is open from early spring until after Christmas each year. Consignment sales are structured so that 70% of monies go to the crafter and 30% of monies go to H.O.M.E. This helps keep the lights and heat on in the Craft Store.
Craft Fairs
Whether hosted locally or out of state, H.O.M.E. staff participate in craft fairs to expand sale opportunities for our crafters. Staff from different departments at H.O.M.E. all assist in these important endeavors.
Local Events
You can find a booth hosted by H.O.M.E. at the Bucksport Bay Festival and Orland River Day every year. They provide an opportunity to share information about H.O.M.E.'s programs and to present a selection of items from our Craft Store.
